Becoming a Volunteer With Coyote Helps

Note: Coyote Helps does not yet exist as a nonprofit. All of the information on this web site is PROPOSED.
Please see the home page for more information about this idea for a nonprofit.

A person interested in volunteering with Coyote Helps should first read through our web site, especially the volunteer tasks and the code of conduct.

A volunteer applicant must have a LinkedIn profile. This is asked for in the application to volunteer and will be reviewed by Coyote Helps leadership. The LinkedIn profile must note the city and country where you live. If should also note your most recent educational diploma (what it is, what institution it is from, and your area of concentration). If you choose to use a pseudonym on your LinkedIn account, you may be asked by Coyote Helps leadership for a scan of your identification.

You should also have a Reddit account that you will use as a part of your volunteering. This profile must be public (as in, you cannot make your posts private). This is asked for in the application to volunteer and will be reviewed by Coyote Helps leadership.

We also encourage you to have an account on BlueSky and/or on Mastodon, that will be used for your volunteering with Coyote Helps.  These can be existing social media accounts you already have, provided you follow the Coyote Helps guidelines at all times when using that account, or it can be an account you create especially for use as a Coyote Helps volunteer. You will be asked to submit these account names to Coyote Helps leadership upon acceptance into the program as a volunteer.

These social media accounts will be reviewed by Coyote Helps leadership both at the time of your application and periodically during your association with Coyote Helps, to ensure you are following our Code of Conduct.

Then you should first complete our online application (application not yet launched),  at which time you will agree to the Coyote Helps Code of Conduct and agree to our AI use policy (within the code).

A person who is accepted into the volunteering program will receive an official email from Coyote Helps noting this acceptance and detailing first steps.

Note that all roles with Coyote Helps are volunteer roles and, therefore, are unpaid roles.

Please do NOT start on any volunteering tasks until you have received written notification from Coyote Helps that you are now an official volunteer.

Acceptance of a new volunteer

Upon acceptance into the Coyote Helps program, the volunteer must declare this volunteering affiliation on his or her LinkedIn profile. The entry should be something like:
Each volunteer must have an account on Reddit.

Please note that Coyote Helps has no official affiliation whatsoever with Reddit, BlueSky, Mastodon, Meta, or any company or nonprofit named anywhere on this web site, unless otherwise noted.

Please also note that your social media accounts are YOURS.

If you have a Reddit account that you will use as a Coyote Helps volunteer:

If you have a Reddit account you are ready to use in association with your volunteering with Coyote Helps, then once you are accepted as a volunteer, you are ready to get started with volunteering tasks on Reddit on behalf of Coyote Helps. If you do not have such an account, you need to create one immediately. Coyote Helps cannot provide you with guidance on how to create a Reddit account: you need to know how to do this on your own. Please do NOT start on any tasks until you have received written notification from Coyote Helps that you are now an official volunteer.

If you have a BlueSky and/or Mastodon account that you will use as a Coyote Helps volunteer:

If you have a Blue Sky and/or Mastodon account you are ready to use in association with your volunteering with Coyote Helps, then once you are accepted as a volunteer, you are ready to get started with tasks on Reddit on behalf of Coyote Helps. If you do not have such an account, and you want to leverage that account/those accounts as a part of your volunteering, then you need to create an account/accounts immediately. Coyote Helps cannot provide you with guidance on how to create a BlueSky account: you need to know how to do this on your own. For Mastodon, we recommend you create an account on Mastodon.social or Mastodon.world or Mastodon.plus.

Please do NOT start on any volunteering tasks until you have received written notification from Coyote Helps that you are now an official volunteer.

These social media accounts will be reviewed by Coyote Helps leadership both at the time of your application and periodically during your association with Coyote Helps, to ensure you are following our Code of Conduct.

Applying to volunteer via Coyote Helps

If you have come this far on this page, we hope it is because you have read our code of conduct, our guidelines for volunteering, and you agree with them and agree to follow them if you are accepted as a volunteer with us. And if that's the case, and you want to, you are ready to enroll as an official volunteer with Coyote Helps (link goes to our application to volunteer).
