{"id":794,"date":"2014-05-01T10:34:49","date_gmt":"2014-05-01T17:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/?p=794"},"modified":"2022-03-21T11:53:58","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T18:53:58","slug":"ict4empl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2014\/05\/ict4empl\/","title":{"rendered":"ICTs, Employability &#038; Social Inclusion in the EU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(note: if any URL does not work, cut and paste it into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\">archive.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In my last blog, I talked about how, at long last, my paper<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">,\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coyotebroad.com\/ict4employ\/vv_in_the_eu.pdf\">Internet-mediated Volunteering in the EU: \u00a0<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/ftp.jrc.es\/EURdoc\/JRC85755.pdf\">Its history, prevalence, and approaches and how it relates to employability and social inclusion<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">, had been published.\u00a0<\/span>My research was for the ICT4EMPL Future Work project undertaken by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/is.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Information Society Unit of the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies at the\u00a0European Commission\u2019s\u00a0Joint Research Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ICT4EMPL Future Work project aims to inform policy of new forms of work and pathways to employability in the European Union mediated by ICTs &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Information and Communications Technologies<\/strong>. The ICT4EMPL research project is in the context of of implementation of the<a href=\"http:\/\/The%20ICT4EMPL%20Future%20Work%20project%20is%20being%20undertaken%20by:%20European%20Commission%20Joint%20Research%20Centre%20Institute%20for%20Prospective%20Technological%20Studies%20Information%20Society%20Unit%20http:\/\/is.jrc.ec.europa.eu\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u00a0Europe 2020<\/a>\u00a0strategy and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/digital-agenda\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Digital Agenda for Europe<\/a>.\u00a0For more information, see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/digital-agenda\/en\/skills-jobs\" rel=\"nofollow\">Skills &amp; Jobs, Digital Agenda for Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ICT4EMPL Future Work project developed, produced overview reports on the state of play of\u00a0<em>crowd-sourced labour, crowdfunding, internet-mediated volunteering<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>internet-mediated work exchange (timebanks and complementary currency).<\/em>\u00a0These activities were explored in relation to key themes of opportunities for entrepreneurship and self employment, skills and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/is.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/pages\/EAP\/eInclusion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">social inclusion<\/a>, and transition from education to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coyotecommunications.com\/ict4employ\/unemployment.html\">employment for young people<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to my paper, here are other papers published as part of the ICT4EMPL Future Work project, and almost all of them talk about volunteering in some way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ipts.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/publications\/pub.cfm?id=7142\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Potential of Time Banks to support Social Inclusion and Employability<\/a>, by D.
