{"id":1628,"date":"2016-02-02T15:21:39","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T23:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/?p=1628"},"modified":"2016-02-02T15:24:16","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T23:24:16","slug":"unicef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2016\/02\/unicef\/","title":{"rendered":"UNICEF invites orgs to apply for funding for tech innovations to help children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/global_logo_2013.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1630\" src=\"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/global_logo_2013.png\" alt=\"global_logo_2013\" width=\"175\" height=\"42\" \/><\/a>UNICEF is inviting technology organizations developing tech solutions with the potential to improve the lives of the world\u2019s most vulnerable children to apply for funding from its recently launched <a href=\"http:\/\/causetech.net\/challenges\/feature-challenge\" target=\"_blank\">Innovation Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/causetech.net\/challenges\/feature-challenge\" target=\"_blank\">UNICEF Innovation Fund<\/a> plans to invest in open source technologies by increasing children\u2019s access to information, opportunity and choice. UNICEF identifies opportunities from countries around the world including some that may not see a lot of capital investment in technology start-ups. They are hoping to identify communities of problem-solvers and help them develop simple solutions to some of the most pressing problems facing children.<\/p>\n<p>The fund focuses its investments on three portfolio areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Products for youth under 25 to address a range of needs including learning and youth participation;<\/li>\n<li>Real-time information for decision-making; and<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure to increase access to services and information, including connectivity, power, finance, sensors and transport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The projects must be open source and have a working prototype.
