{"id":1437,"date":"2015-11-10T10:42:36","date_gmt":"2015-11-10T18:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/?p=1437"},"modified":"2015-11-10T10:36:20","modified_gmt":"2015-11-10T18:36:20","slug":"leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2015\/11\/leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Online leadership: what is it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, I\u2019m blogging and launching new web resources based on my experience in October as the <a href=\"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2015\/11\/03\/duvall\/\">Duvall Leader in Residence<\/a>\u00a0at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ca.uky.edu\/cfld\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Kentucky\u2019s Center for Leadership Development (CFLD)<\/a>, part of UK\u2019s College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I blogged about one of my workshops about\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2015\/11\/09\/democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Democratizing Engagement<\/a><\/strong>. Specifically: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coyotecommunications.com\/coyoteblog\/2015\/11\/09\/democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\">has the Internet democratized community, even political, engagement<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I launched a new web page about <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coyotecommunications.com\/culture\/onlineleadership.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">online\u00a0leadership<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0There is plenty of information about leading and supporting a team online, and I reviewed some of those suggested practices and resources in my workshop, but I wanted to focus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coyotecommunications.com\/culture\/onlineleadership.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">this new web page solely on <strong>online leadership<\/strong><\/a>, on engaging in activities that influence others online, that create a profile for a person as someone that provides credible, important, even vital information about a particular subject. To me, leaders are looked to for advice, direction, knowledge and opinions on specific subjects, and their online activities, collectively, influence the thinking of others. And they <strong><em>engage<\/em><\/strong> online &#8211; they don&#8217;t just post information. They discuss, they acknowledge reactions and feedback, they even debate.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made it a web page, rather than a blog, because it&#8217;s a resource I intend to regularly update and maintain, part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coyotecommunications.com\/culture\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">my portfolio of online resources about working with others online<\/a>.
